“It’s nice, isn’t it?” They say, referring to the way the sun at dusk reflects off the lake’s waters. During the day it would be blinding, but when the sky is still between shades of blue and
orange the contrast makes it bittersweet.

“It’s nicer with you.” I answer, smiling at them. They smile back, showing genuine
happiness not often seen in either of us. Their hand feels heavy on mine, and I can’t help but caress it to show a fraction of how much I care.

“We’re both pretty nice.” They say before a kiss on the forehead. We both might still have things to worry about, other places to be, but for the moment all I care about is us. Us side-by-side, making the world seem better.
