Looking for an exotic, breath-taking, unique vacation destination? Well, Mars might just be the place for you!
According to SpaceX CEO and founder Elon Musk, tourism on Mars should be a reality by 2022. Better still, even those who don’t have $10 billion to spare could visit the red planet before long, by using virtual reality glasses connected to a robot! But what exactly is there to see on Mars?
Firstly, Olympus Mons is easily the most exciting sight on the planet. This volcano is the tallest in our entire Solar System. Towering at a mighty 22 km above the ground, it’s almost 3 times the height of Mount Everest.
Next stop, Valles Marineris. Running 4000 km in length, this valley slices through the Martian equator to a depth of up to 7 km, four times as deep as the Grand Canyon.
Even beyond these outstanding sights, Mars has a lot to offer for potential tourists. For the skiing enthusiasts, Mars offers opportunities like no others. Martian poles have ice caps layered with soft and fluffy frozen carbon dioxide, sometimes several meters thick. Of course, to survive the temperature, which sometimes drops to as low as -125 C, you’ll definitely need more than a good winter coat! If you still aren’t convinced, take a look at Mars’s stunning sunsets. Due to its thin atmosphere, which is only 1% as thick as Earth’s, sunsets appear a brilliant blue, rather than red.
So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, prepare to leave! Destination: Mars!
