Fickle Friends

By Vanessa Burns (Contributor)

They line them up and one by one
Recreate them just for fun
Laugh, their faces towards the sun
(We are all just fickle friends.)

They vote for freedom, free for all
They’re the ones who make the call
Yet the one percent still stands tall
(We are all just fickle friends.)

They spit on soul mates, clearly they say,
“For being you, you cannot stay.”
“Love is beautiful, but not when you’re gay.”
(We are all just fickle friends.)

They say they’ll love you till the end
Make perfect promises and then
You ask for coffee, they ask when
For we are all just fickle friends.
