As I look at the seemingly multiplying rolls on my stomach and desperately try to cover the not-so-designer bags under my eyes, there is no doubt, ladies and gentlemen: it is exam season. I can’t remember the last time I felt genuinely happy, but “we can pull through,” I say to my friends as I take another swing of my coffee. But do I really believe it? Yes, yes I do. I mean, between work and school and family and academics and social life and hobbies and oh my arguably existent God, this list goes on forever, doesn’t it? It’s a lot to balance at the end of the semester, but I am one stubbornly positive girl today. So, nevertheless, from my Doritos stained lips I speak words of encouragement. I can see the light now, we are so near the end of the tunnel. As I emerged from the dark depths of Tim Hortons where I’ve been living during this exam period, it is 20 degrees outside, and my paler-than-ever skin is quite shocked to feel warmth, yet ever so grateful. This is the light I’m talking about, people. Summer is around the corner. Wild Willy’s is open once more, Osheaga tickets are on sale, and you can bet your sweet butt I’m going bikini shopping next week. Just two more weeks of some undeniable stress, and you can welcome more than five hours of sleep per night back to your life.
