Though many trees flourish
around it,
it remains unmoving.
Though many birds whistle
above it,
it stays unspeaking.
Though the thick trunk of
the maple tree
is surrounded by life,
it sits alone among this
dead inside.
The weight of its branches
making him sink,
further into the ground
