Morpho Menelaus

Laura Goher

Student Life Editor

It was ten days and a week

into March when I saw it.

Iridescent and charming,

a rare creature, belittled,

unfit for this dreary world,

flew high into the heavens.

Come now, let me follow you.

Your trail of golden dust leads

not to luxuries of life,

but to peace of mind and soul.

Slow down now, my spirit clings

to the emptiness of air.

My arms flailing, I reach out,

but the wind pulls you away.

Breeze prevails and then you’re gone,

drifting away through the sky

and towards the tranquil stars.
