All of John Abbott’s Sports Scores in One Convenient Place
Rugby
The first place women’s rugby team won their game Sunday against Dawson by a score of 33-5. Top scorers in this match were Dana Silerova and Pershea Alaei. The men’s rugby team was able to improve their record to 4-0 after a 38-5 victory against Dawson. Zach Jamieson had a game high three tries in the effort.
Football
John Abbott’s football team improved their record to 4-2 after a hard fought 29-8 win against Lionel-Groulx on Saturday night. The team’s defense played strong and limited the Nordiques to only one touch down. Quarterback Adam Sinagra threw two touchdown passes to Emilio Cecere to cap off the win.
Lacrosse
The Islanders bounced back from a loss to Brebeuf by beating them this weekend by a score of 13-4. Alan Singleton came back from his injury this week and scored four goals. The defense played steady all game and goalie Cory Davidson kept solid.
Flag Football
The John Abbott flag football team continued their struggles on Saturday after a 31-0 loss against the undefeated Vieux Montreal team. Alexa Barron had two QB sacks and Leah Darwent recorded an interception and multiple flag pulls.
Baseball
The Islanders won three straight games this week to secure a spot in the inaugural RSEQ playoffs in longueil. The week started with a 5-2 win against Assomption. The second game of the week was a win against Edouard-Montpetit. On Sunday, the men secured their spot in the playoffs by beating 2nd place Lionel-Groulx by a score of 2-1.
Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball team started their preseason by participating in the St-Lawrence College Vikings Tournament this past weekend. The Isles lost their first game against Niagra by a score of 92-65. The team went on to lose in overtime 89-82 in their following game against St-Lawrence. The team finished the tournament with a 75-58 loss against George Brown College.
Men’s Volleyball
The men’s volleyball team finished first in Section C in the opening tournament. In three weeks from now the team will be moved into Section B. Captain Matthew Cross scored 76 setter assists and 8 kills to cap off an impressive showing from the men.
Hockey
The women’s hockey team lost their game this weekend by a score of 5-0 against Champlain College.
Soccer
The women lost both their games this weekend 7-0 and 1-0 to F-X Garneau and Lionel-Groulx respectively. The men lost 2-1 to F-X Garneau and lost 2-0 to Lionel-Groulx.

The female Islander of the week is rugby player Pershea Alaei, and the male athlete of the week is baseball pitcher Scott Grafton.
