SUJAC Update!
By Barbara Hill

SUJAC gives you all a warm, if delayed, ‘Welcome Back’ from the Winter break. Even though there were no classes for a few weeks, a lot has happened at school since we got back.
SUJAC is always striving to improve student life. We’ve been working on creating a revised SUJAC website which will give you an overview of SUJAC’s mission at JAC.
JAC held its Winter Open House at the end of January with a good turnout for the time of the year. And our SUJAC-Club Day, organized in early February, was a big success with some 40 Clubs taking new membership and promoting themselves with the Dreamland theme! Maker’s Club, Black Student Union and Arts & Crafts won 1stand 2nd prizes and the Spirit Team came third. They all earned funds to put towards their food budgets. Two students, Sasha Ripple and Ahmed Antar, won the SUJAC Prize Wheel draw for an Oval Coffee House Gift card each. All in all, students and Club members alike had a great time with all the fun activities.
For those interested in making a positive impact on the school for the future, SUJAC is holding a General Assembly on Monday, February 16, at 5:30 pm in The Agora with your SUJAC Executives (President, VP Internal, Academic, Finance, External and Communications) present as well as the some 45 Pre-U, Tech and Club student Reps on your Congress body. These student Reps are your voice in the school so we encourage you to come give your input! There will be some snacks and you’ll find out more about your Student Union.
We’ve been hosting a SUJAC Open House (Feb. 11-13) with free coffee, Nestea, juices and cookies for you to snack on. And you may have noticed Inter-Program food boxes around the school, an initiative from our Affordability Committee, to provide a fun competition to raise food for the John Abbott Pantry. May the best Program win!
In the months ahead, we have great things planned! We invite you guys to come meet your SUJAC and Congress Reps on March 10 in AME. International Women’s Day is also approaching on March 12 in The Agora. Please join in on the SUJAC Study Night on April 15, also in The Agora. We will keep you posted on upcoming events!
This is all from us for now. Have a wonderful Winter semester.
