Astral Dreams

I sit alone:
A blank sheet in front of me.
I stumble through my final hours
Wishing things could have been different.
I am the sole person left on this planet.
An intricate juxtaposition
Of admiration and agony
Consuming me at every turn.
I think we could have been beautiful,
But it’s much too unmerciful.

Drained and empty,
Tired of feeling as if I am invisible,
They leave me no choice,
And when I am but a ghost,
I know that’s when they’ll miss me the most.

Maybe my life was a dream,
But there was nothing dreamlike about it.
It was merely a nightmare
Filled with harrowing despair.

I’ve learned how to share
My lessons.
They have all died out.

Perished amongst the young. Ascended to live an astral life
High amongst the stars.

They have initiated the wars
To merely earn a place on Mars
Where no one will hear their screams anymore,
And they will never set their eyes on the poor
For they are the ones who are wealthy,
But their souls will never be rich.

I pity them and their life
In a foreign galaxy
Where I know I will never belong.
They are not as strong
As they are perceived to be,
And all hail thee.

I can feel the final hours closing in
As the planet nears its finish line.
I close my eyes against the sights
Slowly, as I dim the lights.
If I don’t belong,
Where will I go?
I suppose nobody knows.
I am merely holding taut the seams –
Floating in my astral dreams.
