At 40 years of age, LeBron James continues to make an impact on the court every game. This season alone, he has averaged 24.7 points, 8.8 assists and 7.7 rebounds per match. However, earlier this week LeBron suffered a groin injury during a match, causing major speculation and concern. He is estimated to be out of commission for up to 2 weeks.
This is not the first time LeBron has suffered from a groin injury. In 2018, against the Golden State Warriors, LeBron suffered a much more severe injury that ended up wrecking the remainder of his season. Additionally, in 2022 he suffered another injury facing the Los Angeles Clippers. He ended up missing 5 matches due to the severity of that incident.

The injury transpired during the Lakers game against the Boston Celtics. The Lakers had gone into the match riding on the high of an 8 game winning streak. In the fourth quarter, LeBron went up against Celtics player Jaylen Brown. Attempting a spin/fake/layup combination, LeBron was able to score but began limping afterwards. He exited the game shortly afterward and did not return.
Although fans were worried, LeBron remains in high spirits, noting that the injury is minor and will likely resolve itself without much medical intervention or attention. When asked about his injury, LeBron stated:
“Not much concern. Obviously I’m day-to-day. I’ll look at it each day and see if it gets better. We’ll take the proper measures to see what we need to do moving forward.” – LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
Fans are especially disappointed in this injury due to the Lakers acquisition of basketball superstar Luka Doncic. Doncic and LeBron have proven to be an amazing duo on and off the court. When asked about LeBron’s injury in a post match interview, Luca stated: “hopefully it’s nothing. Obviously he needs to take his time, those injuries are, I don’t want to say the words but they’re tough to deal with.” He also spoke about how the Lakers need to play with more pace in order to be more effective on the court. Overall, it seems LeBron’s injury will be easy to recover from and is no cause for major concern.
