Book your calendars for May 29: Singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright is visiting Hudson! She will be discussing her book Stories I Might Regret Telling You, a poignant memoir that recounts her experiences growing up in a notorious musical family. The event will take place at Stephen F. Shaar Community Center (394 Rue Main in Hudson) at 2PM, and the price of admission is $20. Tickets can be purchased online at www.greenwoodcentre.org or in Hudson at Que be Bonnes Choses (484-B rue Main, Hudson). This visit will kick off StoryFest, a celebration of story-tellers hosted by the Greenwood Center of Living History in Hudson.

StoryFest is an annual literary festival that has hosted over 140 Canadian authors since its creation, in a tradition that celebrates poetry, prose, and oral storytelling. This year’s event is especially compelling, as Martha’s audience spans all ages. As the sister of Rufus Wainwright and the daughter of revered folk artists, Martha has a truly unique tale to tell. The even will take the form of a conversation, which will open up into an interactive Q&A from the audience. There is also the possibility of a book signing at the end.

This event is organized by Greenwood, a historical house that is open during the summertime for tours. For those who are interested in the history of Hudson or who want to get involved in the community, there are countless events to look out for throughout the summer. Greenwood offers tea and pastries on their waterfront porch, and hosts musical and theater events throughout the summer. Be on the lookout for these opportunities, but in the meantime, be sure to attend StoryFest on May 29th with Martha Wainwright!
