The Nonexistent Existent Parking At JAC

‘Twas a cold Wednesday morning when I pulled up to the John Abbott parking lot around 9:24 am, expecting there TO BE parking space…But NO, there was NONE.
As a third year at JAC, I’ve had my fair share of experience with the really awesome John Abbott parking: it is simply HORRIFIC. Awful. Inconvenient. Annoying. Come too late and expect to park on a snow ditch or somewhere far off in Sainte Anne (a nice hike, really, but who the heck wants to walk in the COLD, WINDY weather while running almost LATE). But then, come early and it feels like you’re a gremlin that got interrupted from their amazing beauty sleep. So, of course I absolutely love 8 am classes…Where I wake up super early to drive through a terrible commute that consists of battlefields of traffic, construction and icy, foggy weather conditions.
After sacrificing my scarce amount of sleep, the least I’d expect is available PARKING. However, it is with deep disappointment that I signed up for a winter trek through Sainte Anne. Especially for 11 am classes. It is frustrating to see the student parking lot being full. It costs a lot of time (and fuel) to get to school. AND YOU’RE TELLING ME THAT THE PARKING IS ABSOLUTELY UNFINDABLE? It’s existent, alright, but it definitely feels like it’s NONEXISTENT. And it is equally bad to have to deal with UNFLUSHED TOILETS at this educational institution. The bathroom crisis that another terrorized student wrote about is still ongoing, too. Schools are places for us to receive EDUCATION. But is the current state of both parking and odd bathrooms the environment you’ve envisioned yourself being in?
