Career Fair 2014
by Zoe Shaw (Editor-in-Chief)
Don’t know what you want to do after CEGEP? It’s perfectly normal to have no idea what you’re doing at this point in your academic journey, according to Anthony Haddad, the Student Success Animator at John Abbott College.
You may find yourself lacking motivation in your studies if you don’t know what you plan to do with your DEC or DEP. In this case, Career Fair can act as a way, not to find your ultimate goal, but to be aware of your different options in order to align your studies in the right direction.
Taking place November 4th and 5th in The Agora from 9:30 to 1:30 both days, Career Fair, organized by the Student Employment Centre and SUJAC, is open to all JAC students from
pre-university and technical programs alike. Around 30 representatives from 15 different organizations will allow students to “delve into careers they didn’t think otherwise of choosing”. It’s a fantastic opportunity to ask professionals how they got to where they are. Maybe you’ll discover job opportunities that you’ve never even heard about!
Come to both days to see multiple trades, post-secondary institutions, careers, technologies, policing and security, and multimedia organizations like CTV News ready to answer all the questions you might have about your potential careers.
If Career Fair leaves you bothered by the lack of careers that interest you, consider signing up for a series of Career Cruising Workshops in H-148 to consult with a career counselor and find a path that suits your specific interests.
