MUSINGS OF A SOON-TO-BE-GRADUATE

So, dear reader, I’ve tried to start this article a million different times, a million different ways, but nothing seems to work. When I first started this series of articles, I used this space as an outlet for all my pent-up thoughts and complaints about John Abbott, but, for once, I can’t figure out what to say. I’m sucked dry of complaints… Just kidding! Honestly, the school could burn down to ashes, and I would still find something to complain about it. So, dearest reader, grab those snacks that you use to fend off your loneliness and enjoy the musings to a soon-to-be-graduate!

Let’s start with the study spaces. They’re so NOISY! If you ever walk into one of AME’s learning center, you’ll realize just how loud they can get. Sit in one for more than ten minutes and you’ll soon learn that professor X is horrible at their job, that Lon-CAPA is the bane of every student’s existence, and that everyone seems to have a better R-score than you. Honestly, if you’re going to the learning center to actually study… good lick. Yet, I somewhat understand why the learning centers are so noisy. Schools are buildings with the sole intent of learning, but they do inadvertently play a social role. School’s not worth it unless you are complaining to friends about your teacher, suffering with them through an assignment that isn’t even yours, or telling them about the dumb thing you said last night. I must admit that I am guilty of being noisy in the learning center for those reasons. And I hope you are too, dearest reader. Let’s continue with JAC confessions. I don’t know for you, most adored reader, but, if that account taught me one thing, is that 90% of students at JAC are feeling lower than my grades. Why are there so many stories of unrequited love? Am I the only one who hasn’t found a single cute boy since I started at JAC? Where are all the good-looking people everyone has a crush on? Ok, dear reader, I admit, I’m lonely, but at least it’s not just me. Then there’s the other 10% of confessions. They’re either about people having sex in the bathroom, people’s bowels having a hard time in the bathroom and/or just over all weird things happening in the bathroom. Our confessions are so weird, that some random person that doesn’t even know where JAC is found them, read all our confessions, and is now fascinated by us! I don’t know if we should be proud, ashamed, or simply confused about this. What do you think, dear reader?

Let’s finish off with lessons. No matter how loud or odd JAC is, this school did a lot for me. Not only did it guide me towards my passion, but the friends I met there, the social skills I developed, and the ability to complain about everything and nothing are all gifts JAC gave me that I will forever cherish. JAC gave me the tool kit necessary to face university and even life in some respects, and I now feel ready to graduate and move on to the next step. And I hope you do to, most beloved reader.
