Hillel John Abbott
by Jonathan Acoca and Daniel Ibghy (Contributors)
The Hillel table on Club Day had more traffic than we’ve ever seen before. This semester will be a great one! We will finally be able, with the help of our members, to do all our planned events. This November, with the help of the Christian Fellowship, we will be having a Christmukka Party. It’s going to be huge!
Hillel isn’t only about wild partying and loud music. We have something called Alternative Break where we send students to Miami and we partner up with Habitat for Humanity and help out down there during our winter break. We also have Challah for Hunger where we help families with their shabbat dinners. We invite families to come and prepare their challahs for shabbat (challah is bread).
Hillel is also in conjunction with the Shmooze Club with Rabbi David Lazare, the Rocking Rabbi! He brings free pizza on Mondays and Tuesdays and gets everyone together to have fun. Monday the 20th Rabbi Lazare will be in room H-308 from 12:30 to 1:30PM.
Hillel will be having club meetings Monday to Wednesday 11:30AM to 2:30PM. If you’re interested please let us know. Find us on Facebook (Dan and Jon), and we will add you to the Hillel John Abbott page. October 22nd, there will be an event in the Agora. It’s a surprise, so we can’t tell you what’s going to happen.
We are open to everyone on campus to come check out what we are doing for the Jewish community on campus, as our programming can be insightful to anyone of any faith.
Shana Tova and Chatima Tova to you all! May you have a sweet new year and a kick ass semester.
