JAC Matchmaking, Cupid Called—He Wants His Arrows Back!

@jac._.matchmaking is an Instagram account that recently came about after many requests posted on the @jacconfessions2024.1 account. The concept was simple: fill out some basic information about yourself, the type of person you’re looking for, and permission from the account to post the results.
After a few weeks’ wait, people started receiving their results. However, there was an inevitable issue: not everyone received their match. There was an uneven number of participants (“more straight guys than girls” – @jac._.matchmaking administrator) who completed the form, therefore not everyone had a match.
Overall, the majority of JAC students who were matched were either disappointed, dissatisfied, or indifferent with their matches.
“I know that the matchmaking was for shits and giggles for some people, as in they did it just to see what would happen, and some people actually found someone they’re interested in, so good for them. But I was so disappointed about my match. I DON’T WANT SOMEONE FROM MY HIGHSCHOOL. All because I chose “double dec science” and “tall” in my criteria, everything else was not considered. – Naomi B.”
In my personal experience, I was matched with a fellow enby (although I recall only putting “guys” as my preference). We ended up just following each other on Instagram, but we never spoke and I doubt we ever plan to.
In conclusion, as many had predicted, JAC matchmaking pretty much flopped. The account admin is now conducting another round of matchmaking, but this time they will be matching people based on their profile picture. We have yet to see how this will go, but given the mixed reactions from the first round, this next approach will most likely not be taken seriously by the participants.
